Our Vision
Our Vision
At The Promise we will provide the best possible education for each child through personalised, stimulating and enjoyable learning. We will maximise each learner’s potential and enable them to develop physically, socially and educationally. We will provide life-enriching experiences to support our children and young people to be independent and take part in society in a meaningful way.
Every child, no matter what their starting point or background, has the right to an education that prepares them for adult life. The Promise will provide safety, stability and success for every child.
Our vision is to provide the best possible care and education that we can for children and young people with SEMH. We aim to provide the highest quality, most inclusive Free School in our field, standing as a beacon of excellence for other specialist providers in the sector, both locally and nationally. We will work relentlessly to be a driving force for a significant step-change improvement in the outcomes and life opportunities for some of the most vulnerable, at-risk learners in our region.
We will provide ‘leading edge’ education which will evidence how it is possible to take learners who have, and who continue to face, significant challenges and support them to believe in themselves and to evolve, exuding their true potential and more.
We will provide a platform from which transformational life chances can and will blossom and flourish. Our Curriculum, delivered a TEACCH approach, which will run will address our learners’ specific needs. The curriculum will focus on developing our children and young people’s literacy and oracy skills, whilst also developing their subject specific knowledge, building vocabulary and developing transferrable learning skills and approaches. Integrated throughout our curriculum will be opportunities to develop social skills, the ability to cooperate with others, the ability to make meaningful contributions and the ability to work independently.
The learning environment will be characterised by dynamic teaching and learning and collaborative partnerships. This will be underpinned by a strong nurture philosophy and supplemented by vocational links with employers and colleges for learners in KS4.
Key to learner development will be the quality and, also, wellbeing of staff. We will ensure a positive and enjoyable learning experience for learners and one that it is a ‘Great Place to Work’ for staff. The Trust places great value in the well-being of its entire staff. Ensuring an appropriate work-life balance is the expectation from trustees on the leadership and governance of each school to deliver. Supervision, given the specialist nature of the school, will be an integral part of the working week. As will, regular and ongoing continuing professional development and the opportunity for dialogue.
Unconditional positive regard is one of the key factors at the centre of what we will do. We will create a school that is welcoming, caring, safe and warm. A school that truly believes that all its learners can be supported and empowered to succeed; we will not relent on this. We will create individual and personalised pathways for all learners that are built around their varied needs. This will help engineer achieving positive outcomes and prepare them for their onward destinations into continuing education, employment or training. We will champion their present and their future. In pursuance of this goal, our curriculum will provide opportunities for academic progression as well as vocational learning, whilst being engaging, creative, and innovative.
