KPI 1: Nurture
Our aim is to support our young people to:
develop their social and emotional resilience
develop significantly improved self-esteem
reach the point of self-actualisation.
Over time, our aim is for learners to learn to recognise and understand the impact of anti-social and disruptive behaviours on themselves and others and to develop skills, abilities and understanding that empower them to make better choices in the future. This will enable them to engage positively in all aspects of their education and life beyond. Our highly specialised nurture approach, alongside the embedding of restorative practices and other forms of support will support the achievement of the targets below.
Targets
100% of learners have access to supportive and relational approaches in response to behaviours that challenge. The safe, nurturing environment, supported by relational policy and practice approaches, will empower our young people to reflect on and learn from their experiences.
At least 80% of learners evidence improved social and emotional progress within one term. Following baseline assessment of social and emotional development within Boxall tracking data, priority areas of deficit will be identified, and clear targets / priorities set to address these areas, with activities planned during group lessons as well as personalised interventions.
At least 80% of learners will show improved engagement in their learning. Following baseline assessment of engagement using observational / self-assessment tools, learners will demonstrate increased levels of engagement and active learning.
Zero permanent exclusions. We recognise the impact that permanent exclusion has on the subsequent life chance for a child or young person. Therefore, we are committed to supporting the Local Authority’s drive to achieve this important goal. This will be achieved by our relational policy and practice framework. It will also be aided by the Trust’s additional resource bases.
100% of learners demonstrate improved behaviour over time. There will be a positive shift in behaviour and interaction, as documented within our Management Information System. Behaviour logs will be monitored by our Pastoral Lead and SENDCO and identified patterns of repeat behaviours will be addressed through wide ranging, personalised interventions, resulting in a reduction in frequency and severity of negative behaviours over time.
